Honouring Milestones with Grace: Inside the Unique Kenyatta University Catholic Chaplaincy Graduands’ Mass.

At Kenyatta University Catholic Chaplaincy, we believe that graduation is not just an academic milestone—it is a spiritual journey worth celebrating with reverence, gratitude, and joy. That’s why, unlike many universities in Kenya, we hold a Graduands’ Mass—a cherished tradition that brings our community together to honour our graduands in a deeply meaningful way.

The Graduands’ Mass is more than a ceremony.

It is a sacred moment of thanksgiving, blessing, and reflection. It gives graduands an opportunity to pause and acknowledge the grace that has carried them through years of learning, challenges, personal growth, and transformation.

Held just a before the university’s official graduation ceremony (after the rehearsal), the Mass is a beautifully arranged liturgical celebration, often accompanied by vibrant choir music, heartfelt prayers and a powerful homily. Each graduand receives a personal blessing, asking God to guide their future path with wisdom, courage, and purpose.

For many, it is the highlight of their university experience—a spiritual send-off and a reminder that their education is not just for career success, but for the service of humanity and the glory of God.
It fosters a sense of unity, community, and purpose beyond the classroom.

In a world where such faith-based recognition is increasingly rare, the Kenyatta University Catholic Chaplaincy stands out by celebrating both the mind and the soul. The Graduands’ Mass is a beautiful testimony of how faith, education, and community can come together in a powerful and unforgettable way.

To our dear graduands: Your journey doesn’t end here. With God’s grace, may it only just begin.
