YOUTH MASS 2020
NATIONAL YOUTH MASS AT MJI WA FURAHA
SERMON NOTES
YOUNG MAN, I TELL YOU ARISE (LK 7:14)
- In the first Sunday of lent, the church calls to reflect on the temptation of Jesus. Temptations are found everywhere therefore we are called to design our own way of overcoming temptations. As Christians we should not argue with sins, this will make us fall in sin.
- Adam and Eve took the forbidden fruit (Gen 3:9-13) since Satan tempted them. They hid themselves from the presence of God since they realized they were naked. God made garments of skin and clothed them. As youths we are called to live a life of dignity, dressing decently so that we cannot put others into temptations. “What Adam and Eve tried to cover, is what young people are trying to expose.” Give your life and body great value and dignity and always make right choices.
- (Precious stones are not exposed on the ground; they are found underground. Not all beautiful things are good)
- Through disobedience, Adam brought sin and death into the world but through obedience, Jesus Christ brought life and salvation of humankind. Therefore, as young people were called to join Christ in his discomfort in the desert. Let’s moderate our comforts, abstain in all ways and fast in preparation for Easter festive.
- Temptations do not come to us when fulfilled but rather when we are in need, scarcity and want. God can only allow us to be tested but not beyond our strength. When tempted seek refuge in the scriptures as Jesus did.
