As we prepare for the outreach mission to Lodwar Diocese in Turkana County, I can honestly say that I am excited, grateful, and just a little nervous, considering that I have never been there before. This mission presents a unique opportunity to serve, learn, grow in faith, and interact with a vibrant community. I look forward to sharing Christ’s love through simple acts of service while experiencing a way of life that is different from what I am accustomed to.
In preparation for the mission, I have been praying for its success and preparing myself spiritually, mentally, and physically for the journey ahead. I am also making sure that I carry everything I may need. Well… almost everything, because I am still trying to figure out how to pack enough courage for the Turkana sun! From the stories I have heard, the heat there does not simply shine—it conducts interviews and asks visitors why they thought travelling there was a good idea.

Beyond the challenges, I expect to learn a great deal from the people we will encounter. Often, we set out believing that we are the ones going to make a difference, only to discover that our own lives are transformed in the process. I look forward to making new friends, creating lasting memories, and strengthening my faith through service. I am also hoping that by the time we return, I will have mastered the art of surviving on little sleep, busy schedules, and endless yet enriching group-sharing moments.
Above all, I hope to represent Christ the Teacher Kenyatta University Catholic Community with humility, dedication, and a spirit of service. I pray that I may reflect Christ in every act of love and kindness throughout the mission. I am ready for the journey, the lessons, the laughter, and the challenges that lie ahead. Most importantly, I pray for a safe and fruitful mission that will leave me with a stronger faith, a grateful heart, and enough stories to keep my friends entertained for months to come.
