The KUCC Sports Day held on 24th January 2026in the Kenyatta University soccer pitch organized by the Social life Committee was a remarkable event that brought together members of KUCC and their SCCs for a day filled with fun, friendly competition, and community building. Rooted in Christian values, the Sports day emphasized unity, discipline, teamwork and fair play reminding participants that physical activity is an important part of a healthy and God honoring life.
This annual event continues to strengthen bonds within the KUCC community while promoting an active and inclusive spirit among all participants.
The day began with a heartfelt morning Mass led by Father Boniface Kariuki, who encouraged everyone to embrace the spirit of participation and comradeship. His inspiring message set the tone for a day marked not only by competitive sports but also by friendship, laughter, and mutual support.
Several Small Christian communities, including St. Dominic, St. Catherine of Siena, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Perpetua & Felicity, and St. Michael, took part in the festivities. One of the day’s highlights was the thrilling inter-SCC soccer match, where the St. Michael team faced off against their rivals from St. Perpetua and Felicity. The match was intense and fiercely contested, with both teams displaying great skill and determination. Ultimately, St. Michael emerged victorious, while in volleyball, St. Dominic claimed the top honors.

However, KUCC Sports Day was about much more than just winning trophies. It was a celebration of unity, relationship-building, and the joy of coming together as one community. As one participant aptly expressed, “It’s wonderful to see everyone coming together and having fun.” Indeed, form ni kubelong, tu kubelong ni kuparticipate — we are not just a church, but a family.

Shout out to those whose talent was cheering! If you didn’t sweat, did you even attend sports day?
Beyond the games and festivities, the event also served as a meaningful opportunity for the church to give back to the wider community. Proceeds from the day were directed towards supporting church welfare projects and charitable causes, reinforcing KUCC’s commitment to social responsibility and outreach.
The refreshments could not be left behind, where people satisfied their hungry stomachs. Ahaaaa! so there’s one who missed this, purpose to participate another time and enjoy the fun.
In summary, KUCC Sports Day was a vibrant and inclusive celebration that showcased the Church’s dedication to fostering a lively, supportive, and fun community. The enthusiasm and spirit displayed by all participants leave everyone eagerly anticipating next year’s event. Today we play, tomorrow we pray. All in all, left! Right! faith in sight!
